Outdoor water supply pipes mainly include ductile iron pipes, galvanized steel pipes, PVC-U water supply pipes, HDPE pipes, etc. The reason why HDPE water supply pipes can achieve such rapid development and application is that HDPE pipes are economical and practical. For example, in a project, the outdoor water supply pipeline needs to be introduced from the municipal water supply pipeline 500m away, and the inlet pipe diameter is DN400. The original design is ductile iron pipe. According to company regulations, the piping system needs to be compared economically. We will analyze the cost of ductile iron pipes and HDPE pipes and estimate the project cost. After comparative analysis, we found that:

(1) The pipe price of ductile iron pipe is: DN400-yuan/m, DN300-yuan/m; the pipe price of HDPE pipe is: DN400-yuan/m, DN300-yuan/m. From the unit price of pipe, ductile iron The price of the pipe is better than that of HDPE pipe.

(2) Since the HDPE pipe is connected by hot melt, the construction is difficult, and the installation cost is about 40% higher than that of the ductile iron pipe.

(3) Due to the better flexibility of HDPE pipes, in the case of obstacles or trench excavation is not straight, it can be laid directly without pipe fittings, but ductile iron pipes are not enough, and sometimes elbows or zigzag pipes must be used. Such pipe fittings are used for transitional connection. In this way, HDPE pipes are better than ductile iron pipes in the pipe fittings.

(4) HDPE pipes are connected by hot-melt butt joints, and the strength of the interface is very good. Nodular cast iron pipes are connected by sockets, and concrete reinforcement piers are required to be rammed for reinforcement at three links, elbows and other parts. In this respect, the cost is naturally higher for the use of ductile iron pipes than for HDPE pipes.

(5) HDPE pipes do not need anti-corrosion. If the ductile iron pipe is used for the water supply pipe, the inner and outer walls of the ductile iron pipe are required to be treated with anti-corrosion.

(6) After the ductile iron pipe is treated with anticorrosive treatment on the inner and outer walls of the pipe, the normal service life is 20-25 years. There is no corrosion in HDPE pipes, and the normal service life is 50 years.
